How To cook Braised Fish

 


Ingredients 
  • Batang fish cleaned, scales removed sliced 
  • 1 vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons light soy sauce, divided
  • 1/2 tablespoon Oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons water
  • salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Season the fish with salt, pepper and 1 tablespoon light soy sauce. Let them marinate for 15-30 minutes.

  2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat in a pan.
  3. Sear the fish for a couple of minutes on each side, untill lightly browned. Remove them from the heat and set aside. 

  4. Add minced garlic and ginger to the pan and saute it untill fragrant. 

  5. Add light soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sugar and water to the pan. Bring the sauce to a simmer and allow it to thicken slightly. 

  6. Return the cooked fish to the pan and gently simmer them in the sauce for 5 to 10 minutes, or untill cooked through. 

  7. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve it with rice.
