How To Cook Braised Pork Belly in Soy Sauce

Ingredients
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 whole head of garlic
  • 500 grams pork belly, cut into small pieces 

  • 1 tablespoon white peppercorn, smashed and cracked. (Used cumin powder as a substitute) 
  • 3 hard-boiled eggs 

  • 230 grams fried firm beancurd 


  • 3 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce, kecap manis
  • 1.5 tablespoon dark soy sauce, add more for your desired color.
  • salt to taste
Instructions
  1. Heat up a big pot or saucepan with 3 cups of water. Bring it to a boil. 

  2. Bring the pot belly to boil before adding the hard-boiled eggs, cut beancurd, light soy sauce. sweet soy sauce and dark soy sauce. 


  3. Lower the heat to medium and braise the pork for 30 minutes or so or untill the pork belly is cooked through and become tender. 
  4. Add salt to taste. 

  5. Continue to simmer it at the lowest heat for another 15 to 20 minutes. 
  6. Serve hot with steamed rice.
