This is one of the most comforting food for many children and a time-saving dish for house cooks too. A traditional recipe which can be found all over in China. There are only a few basics ingredients, such as eggs and water, where you can achieve its delicate flavor and velvety texture.
Garnished with chopped spring onions (or scallions) and drizzled with a few drops of light soy sauce is irresistible. It may sound easy to learn but you need to master the skill to cook it perfectly well.
Ingredients:
- 300 ml warm water
- 3 large eggs
Seasonings:
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground white pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon chicken stock granules
Garnishing:
- 1 teaspoon light soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon fried garlic with oil
- 1 tablespoon scallions (chopped)
Instructions
- Crack 3 eggs in a large bowl.
- Beat the eggs lightly and slowly add in warm water.
3.Add seasonings and mix well.
4. Strain the egg mixture into a shallow heatproof bowl.
5. Gently place the bowl onto a steamer stand.
6. Cover the lid and steam it over low heat for 10 minutes.
8. Garnish the dish with scallions, fried garlic, light soy sauce over the egg custard and serve it hot on the table.
